About Klaksvík

The second-largest town in the Faroes, nestled between dramatic mountains and a natural harbour. A gateway to the northern islands.

Klaksvík sits in a sheltered fjord position, giving it slightly milder conditions than exposed locations. However, the mountains surrounding the town can funnel winds to dangerous speeds. The ferry to Kalsoy (for the Kallur Lighthouse hike) cancels in rough weather — check wind conditions before planning your crossing.
