About Mykines
The westernmost island, home to vast puffin colonies and the iconic Mykines Holmur lighthouse. A birdwatcher's paradise.
Mykines is the most weather-dependent destination in the Faroes. The small ferry from Sørvágur cancels frequently in rough seas — wind above 12 m/s from the west or significant wave height above 2m typically means no sailing. Even when the ferry runs, the island is fully exposed to Atlantic weather. Check conditions here before booking.
Accessible only by ferry from Sørvágur or helicopter. Ferry runs May–August and is weather-dependent. Book well in advance.
