About Gjógv

One of the most picturesque villages in the Faroes, built around a dramatic natural gorge that serves as a tiny harbour.

Gjógv's north-facing position on Eysturoy means it catches weather systems rolling in from the Norwegian Sea. Fog and low cloud are common, especially in summer mornings — but this often burns off by midday. The gorge walk is sheltered, but the viewpoint above the village is fully exposed to wind.
