About Slættaratindur

The highest peak in the Faroe Islands at 880 m. On clear days the summit offers panoramic views across the entire archipelago.

At 880m, Slættaratindur sits above the cloud layer on many days — the summit can be clear while the valleys below are socked in fog. Temperature drops roughly 6°C per 1000m, so expect it to be significantly colder than sea level. Winter ascent is expert-only due to snow, ice, and whiteout conditions.

Trailhead accessible by car from Eirði. The hike is about 4 km round trip. Conditions at the summit are often very different from the base.
